1. In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.
2Imp 15.30And Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and smote him, and slew him, and reigned in his stead, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah. ;
2. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.
3. Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.
2Imp 18.9And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it. ;
4. And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.
5. Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
2Imp 18.9And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it. ;
6. In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
2Imp 18.10And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is in the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken. ;
Osea 13.16Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. ;
Lev 26.32-33And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it. ;
Deut 28.36-64The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone. ;
Deut 29.27-28And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book: ;
1Cron 5.26And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day. ;
7. For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,
8. And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
Lev 18.3After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances. ;
Deut 18.9When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. ;
2Imp 16.3But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel. ;
9. And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
2Imp 18.8He smote the Philistines, even unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. ;
10. And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:
1Imp 14.23For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree. ;
Isa 57.5Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks? ;
Ex 34.13But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves: ;
Deut 16.21Thou shalt not plant thee a grove of any trees near unto the altar of the LORD thy God, which thou shalt make thee. ;
Mic 5.14And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee: so will I destroy thy cities. ;
Deut 12.2Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: ;
2Imp 16.4And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree. ;
