1. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
Deut 33.27
The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. ;Ezec 11.16
Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come. ;

2. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
Prov 8.25-26
Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: ;

3. Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.
Gen 3.19
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. ;Ecl 12.7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. ;

4. For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. ;

5. Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. ;Isa 40.6

6. In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
Iov 14.2
He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. ;Ps 92.7
When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: ;

7. For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.

8. Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. ;Ier 16.17

Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. ;

9. For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.

10. The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
