1. Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?

2. The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
Ps 7.16
His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate. ;Ps 9.15-16
The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. ;Prov 5.22
His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. ;

3. For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.
Ps 94.4
How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? ;Prov 28.4
They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them. ;Rom 1.32
Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. ;

4. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
Ps 14.2
The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. ;Ps 14.1
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. ;Ps 53.1
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. ;

5. His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
Prov 24.7
Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate. ;Isa 26.11
LORD, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them. ;Ps 12.5
For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. ;

6. He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
Ps 30.6
And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. ;Ecl 8.11
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. ;Isa 56.12
Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant. ;Apoc 18.7
How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. ;

7. His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
Rom 3.14
Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: ;Iov 20.12
Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue; ;Ps 12.2
They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. ;

8. He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.
Hab 3.14
Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly. ;Ps 17.11
They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth; ;

9. He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.
Ps 17.12
Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. ;Mic 7.2
The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net. ;

10. He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
