1. And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
Ex 16.1
And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt. ;Num 33.12-14
And they took their journey out of the wilderness of Sin, and encamped in Dophkah. ;

2. Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?

And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD! ;Deut 6.16
Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah. ;Ps 78.18-41
And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. ;Isa 7.12

3. And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness: ;

4. And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.

5. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.
Ezec 2.6
And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. ;Ex 7.20
And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. ;Num 20.8
Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. ;

6. Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
Num 20.10-11
And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? ;Ps 78.15-20
He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths. ;Ps 105.41
He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river. ;Ps 114.8
Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters. ;1Cor 10.4
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. ;

7. And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?
Num 20.13
This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them. ;Ps 81.7
Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah. ;Ps 95.8
Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: ;Evr 3.8

8. Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
Gen 36.12
And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau's wife. ;Num 24.20
And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever. ;Deut 25.17
Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt; ;1Sam 15.2
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. ;

9. And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.
Fapt 7.45
Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David; ;Evr 4.8
For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. ;Ex 4.20
And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand. ;

10. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
