11. A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
Prov 15.23A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! ;
Isa 50.4The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. ;
12. As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13. As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
Prov 13.17A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health. ;
14. Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
Prov 20.6Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? ;
15. By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
Gen 32.4And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now: ;
1Sam 25.24And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid. ;
Prov 15.1A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. ;
Prov 16.14The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it. ;
16. Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
Prov 25.27It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory. ;
17. Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
18. A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
Ps 57.4My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. ;
Ps 120.3-4What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue? ;
Prov 12.18There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. ;
19. Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
20. As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
