1. And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.
Num 33.49
And they pitched by Jordan, from Bethjesimoth even unto Abelshittim in the plains of Moab. ;Ios 2.1
And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there. ;Mic 6.5
O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD. ;Num 31.16
Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD. ;1Cor 10.8
Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. ;SMS

2. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.
Ios 22.17
Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD, ;Ps 106.28
They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. ;Osea 9.10
I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved. ;Ex 34.15-16
Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice; ;1Cor 10.20
But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. ;Ex 20.5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; ;SMS

3. And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.
Ps 106.29
Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them. ;SMS

4. And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.
Deut 4.3
Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you. ;Ios 22.17

5. And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baalpeor.
Ex 18.21-25
Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: ;Ex 32.27
And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor. ;Deut 13.6-15
If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; ;SMS

6. And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Ioel 2.17
Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God? ;SMS

7. And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;
Ps 106.30
Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. ;Ex 6.25
And Eleazar Aaron's son took him one of the daughters of Putiel to wife; and she bare him Phinehas: these are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families. ;SMS

8. And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
Ps 106.30
Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. ;SMS

9. And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.
Deut 4.3
