1. And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard thereof;
Num 34.6And as for the western border, ye shall even have the great sea for a border: this shall be your west border. ;
Ex 3.17And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey. ;
Ex 23.23For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off. ;
2. That they gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.
Ps 83.3-5They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. ;
3. And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai,
Ios 10.2That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty. ;
2Sam 21.1-2Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites. ;
Ios 6.27So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country. ;
4. They did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up;
5. And old shoes and clouted upon their feet, and old garments upon them; and all the bread of their provision was dry and mouldy.
6. And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us.
Ios 5.10And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho. ;
7. And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?
Ios 11.19There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle. ;
Ex 23.32Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. ;
Deut 7.2And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them: ;
Deut 20.16But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: ;
Jud 2.2And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this? ;
8. And they said unto Joshua, We are thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who are ye? and from whence come ye?
Deut 20.11And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee. ;
2Imp 10.5And he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, the elders also, and the bringers up of the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any king: do thou that which is good in thine eyes. ;
9. And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,
Deut 20.15Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations. ;
Ex 15.14The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina. ;
Ios 2.10For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. ;
10. And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth.
Num 21.24-33And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong. ;
