1. Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
2Sam 15
And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him. ;2Sam 16

And David numbered the people that were with him, and set captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds over them. ;

2. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
2Sam 16.8
The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man. ;Ps 71.11
Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him. ;

3. But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
Gen 15.1
After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. ;Ps 28.8
The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. ;Ps 119.114

Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy. ;

5. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
Lev 26.6
And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land. ;Ps 4.8
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. ;Prov 3.24
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. ;

6. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
Ps 27.3
Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. ;

7. Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Iov 16.10
They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me. ;Iov 29.17
And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth. ;Ps 58.6

He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach. ;

8. Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
Prov 21.31
The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD. ;Isa 43.11
I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. ;Ier 3.23
Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel. ;Osea 13.4
