1. The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
1Imp 4.32
And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five. ;Prov 10.1
The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. ;Prov 25.1
These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out. ;Ecl 12.9
And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. ;

2. To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

3. To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
Prov 2.1-9
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; ;

4. To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
Prov 9.4
Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, ;

5. A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
Prov 9.9
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. ;

6. To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
Ps 78.2
I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: ;

7. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Iov 28.28
And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding. ;Ps 111.10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. ;Prov 9.10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. ;Ecl 12.13
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. ;

8. My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
Prov 4.1
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. ;Prov 6.20
My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: ;

9. For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
Prov 3.22
So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. ;

10. My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
Gen 39.7
And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. ;Ps 1.1
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. ;Efes 5.11
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. ;
