1. For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
Evr 8.3
For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. ;Evr 2.17
Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. ;Evr 8.3-4
For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. ;Evr 9.9
Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; ;Evr 10.11
And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: ;Evr 11.4
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. ;
2. Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
Evr 2.18
For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. ;Evr 4.15
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. ;Evr 7.28
For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. ;
3. And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
Lev 4.3
If the priest that is anointed do sin according to the sin of the people; then let him bring for his sin, which he hath sinned, a young bullock without blemish unto the LORD for a sin offering. ;Lev 9.7
And Moses said unto Aaron, Go unto the altar, and offer thy sin offering, and thy burnt offering, and make an atonement for thyself, and for the people: and offer the offering of the people, and make an atonement for them; as the LORD commanded. ;Lev 16.6
And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house. ;Lev 15.17
And every garment, and every skin, whereon is the seed of copulation, shall be washed with water, and be unclean until the even. ;Evr 7.27
Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. ;Evr 9.7
But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: ;
4. And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
2Cron 26.18
And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honor from the LORD God. ;Ioan 3.27

5. So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.

7. Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. ;
10. Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
Evr 5.6
As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. ;Evr 6.20
Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. ;
