1. From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
Rom 7.23But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. ;
Gal 5.17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. ;
1Pet 2.11Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; ;
2. Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Iov 27.9Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him? ;

5. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
Gen 6.5And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. ;
Gen 8.21And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. ;
Num 11.29And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD's people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them! ;
Prov 21.10The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes. ;
6. But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Iov 22.29When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. ;
Ps 138.6Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off. ;
Prov 3.34Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. ;
Prov 29.23A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. ;
Mat 23.12And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. ;
Luc 1.52He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. ;
Luc 14.11For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. ;

7. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Efes 4.27Neither give place to the devil. ;

8. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
2Cron 15.2And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you. ;

1Pet 1.22Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: ;

9. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

10. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
