1. Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.

The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand; ;Ier 4.13
Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled. ;Hab 1.8
Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat. ;Osea 6.7
But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me. ;SMS

2. Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.
Ps 78.34
When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God. ;Osea 5.15
I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early. ;Tit 1.16
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. ;SMS

3. Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him.

4. They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.

5. Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?

I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be? ;SMS

6. For from Israel was it also: the workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.

7. For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.

8. Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.

9. For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.

10. Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.
