1. My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; ;Evr 7.25
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. ;Evr 9.24
For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: ;

2. And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. ;

3. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

4. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: ;1Ioan 4.20
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? ;1Ioan 1.8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ;

5. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

6. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

7. Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

8. Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. ;Ioan 12.35
Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. ;

9. He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. ;2Pet 1.9
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. ;1Ioan 3.14-15
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. ;

10. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
